My top 5 skin care tips

Happy Sunday friends!

I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready to crush the week ahead.

I love Sundays for taking a little extra time  (even more than usual) to spend on my skin and self care so today I thought Id share with you my top 5 skin care tips!

#1- Stay Hydrated.  This should be an obvious one but for a lot of us, if we don’t put water as a focus and priority for the day we definitely don’t drink enough, am I right? Has it ever been 3:00 in the afternoon and you’ve been like, “oh my gosh, all I have had to drink today was 3 coffees!”?   Its easy to let this oh-so-important habit, slip! When you are hydrated your skin cells are happy and it shows with a clear, bright complexion! So find your favourite water bottle, straw, mug or cup, whatever is going to make you drink more of it and get on it! Its a pretty simple way to help out your epidermis layer!

#2- Exfoliate. My 2 favourite things to exfoliate with are a dry brush and exfoliating gloves. If you haven’t used either before it might seems rough on your skin so start gentle. Always brush in a upward motion towards your hear and start at your feet. If you are using a dry brush, use it before you get in the shower. If you are using exfoliating gloves, throw them on with a drop of your body wash and lightly brush over your entire body. If you have dry chapped lips, its a great way to get off the dead skin and leave your lips feeing like silk! You can get both of theses things pretty much anywhere like Shoppers Drug Mart, Superstore, Walmart or any natural store.

#3- Use a Serum and eye cream.  My whole skin care regime is a non negotiable but these 2 especially! Serums are great because they penetrate right into your skin to deliver active ingredients and give you a smoother, firmer look and increase your skin’s moisture. Eye cream, well its a given, everyone should start using one because you don’t want to wait till its too late. One of my favourite skin care lines is SHE, which has great day and night moisturizers and eye creams as well as serums. I am currently using a Vitamin C serum but also loooove rose hip serum as well. DoTerra also has an amazing skin care line that is worth checkin out.

#4- Have a routine and stay consistent with it.  To have the best skin you have to take care of it and that means doing it morning AND night! When you sleep, that is when your skin repairs and restores so having it try and do that while you still have your makeup on and your pores clogged is the worst thing possible. You want to make sure you are going to bed with a clean, moisturized face. Depending on your skin your routine may be different as well as the products you use but by routine looks like this:

  1. wash
  2. tone
  3. eye cream
  4. serum
  5. moisturize

In terms of the products you use try to use ones as natural as possible, no parabens and of course not tested on animals.
